I met Geri at a women's fellowship. We hit it off instantly and little did I know she'd be my rock for the next decade of my life and then I'd become hers.
For many years I wasn't close with my biological mom. Geri was able to always emulate and demonstrate the unconditional and sacrificial love mothers have that mine hadn't aquired until much later in life. She's withered many storms in her life and has shown me how to do the same. Her biological children have not been there for her since they've become adults and I'm the same age as her daughter so I fill a great void in that area of her life.
I honor her every Mother's Day and often it's unfortunately the only acknowledgement she receives. We learn from each other and are always there for one another.
She considers me a daughter and I consider her a Mom. We've been there for each other through some very difficult times. And we know how each feels about the other.
I'm always looking for creative ways to show her just how much she means to me and how special she is in my life.
