Lovepop on Shark Tank

Shark Tank is arguably the most American show on television. It speaks to the American Dreamer in all of us, showcasing the opportunity that we all have to create a business out of blood, sweat, tears--and ungodly amounts of hard work. Shark Tank represents the spirit of the innovator, the tinkerer, the salesperson, all personified by the passionate entrepreneurs on the show. You can imagine how excited I was to get word that lovepop would have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to pitch America’s most well-known billionaire investors--while the entire nation watched.

How we got ready for the show

We knew we had to make an impression, and with lovepop’s slicegamiTM design capability, we opted to create personalized designs for every Shark. For Mark, we made a basketball player in Mavericks colors, for Robert a red sports car, for Barbara a New York skyline, for Daymond a sneaker, for Lori a lady shopping, and for Kevin a million dollar bill. Not to mention, this giant life-sized shark:

What's lovepop all about

Started in early 2014 by two naval architects (ship designers) turned paper engineers, we create intricate slicegamiTM cards to redefine expectations for what you can send in an envelope. We believe relationships are the most important thing in a person’s life, and our goal is to encourage people to express themselves more often.

What is slicegami™?

Slicegami is an art meets science approach to design that incorporates the sliceform structure ship design technology as well as the beautiful paper folding traditionally used in Japanese origami and kirigami. We develop our designs in state of the art engineering software, cut the paper with precision laser cutters, and assemble every card by hand.
